Everything seems so chaotic.
I wish for everyone to make peace."
To Alson Ang:
Resilience by Cynthia Buhain
These trying times demand it
No halcyon days ahead.
But all hard work brings profit
Stand up and refuse to dread!
As the diamond remains a stone
Without the drill and the cutting,
Pleasures based on wealth alone
Robs man the chance of persevering.
True measure of success in life
Is hinged on Wisdom and on Prudence
Courage, patience through the strife,
Facing hardships with Resilience.
For out of Adversity's crucible
Come strength of character and will
And a man discovers he is able
To reach his goals, his dreams fulfill.
Hope this encourages you to move on,
& not follow in his ways.
EDIT:
85th Thanksgiving ceremony tomorrow.
Announcing the prize winners for this year's sec2.
Nervous? Not much.
Excited? Not much.
Feeling apathetic.
After all, the event is scaled down by a lot.
Even Choir's not singing, neither is Band performing.
Anyways, looking forward to it.
& 5th September, food&fun fair, & night service.
Band tomorrow also.
Preparation for National Day next friday.
Combined rehearsal with other contigents on next wednesday.
EXCITING, & stressing.
Band's gonna show you all what we've got.
HAHAHAH
Gotta sleep early, 've been sleeping late these days.
Especially yesterday when I was making Jasmine's birthday present.

friendship (?) ,
Band today!DRILLS are so exciting, to me.
So cool to march for National Day.
If only we could be part of the GOH,
& march harmoniously with those awesome boots.
Some people just bring the standard of our marching down, down, down.
Come on, if you want to do something, just give it your best.
You wouldn't want photographs of you doing drills sloppily eh?
If our marching is as good as the UGs, then we really can call ourselves good.
Exceptionally good.
So let's give it our best & not let our seniors down,
& let the UGs know that we're not that bad as they say either.

Friendship,
or companionship?
Whatever happened to friendship in faith3/2?
It seems everyone is stranded from each other.
Everyone seems to be losing their friends.
Isn't friendship supposed to be eternal,
like the two old ladies above, helping each other to walk?
The definition of friendship seem to have been twisted.
Just because of a misunderstanding,
the whole class has been split.
Not into 2 groups, but a lot of small groups.
What has happened to best friends that stick together?
People are being left out.
Extra people step in.
What is this?
Is this your definition of friendship?
Kicking others out?
Disappointment befalls all of us.
Shrouds of darkness surrounds all of us.
We are blinded, hopefully temporarily.
Friendship is not like that.
It never was and never will be.
What you're having there
is called superficial friendship or companionship.
Friendship on the surface level.
Talking just to entertain.
Being together just to feel accepted.
Sharing nothing about our lives.
Called 'friends' just because you need one.
Tell me then, what is friendship?

remember (?) ,
Band performance today at Macpherson CC,to commemorate Racial Harmony Day.
We did okay, but the audience was demoralizing.
They were eating their food, talking on their own, & not even listening to us.
Not even showing some interest.
They just don't know how to appreciate band music.
To think we worked so hard for it.
We even had to move our own percussions, our own stands.
Disappointed with the CC. tsk.
(oh yah, they also gave horrible food.)
Lunch at opposite library.Talked & talked with band members.
Expounded on many issues, band camp, teachers, performances, etc.
Slacked even more in the library & at the playground.
For that, I skipped service today.I promised Alson I would go, & even persuaded JiaHui not to go.
Disappointed with myself.
What happened to the Manna Time during yf yesterday?
What about Acorn Class?
sigh.
Acknowledgement & repentence.
Prayed to confess.
Next step is to apply.
"Remember"
by Christina Georgina Rossetti
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

apologize (?) ,
YO FRIDAY.Woke up today with only one anticipation - after school!
So I dragged myself through chinese lessons while Germin went home 'cause she had some stomach virus.
GET WELL SOON! (:
Literature was okay, most entertaining lesson; as always.
Went through "Mary Celeste" compre during english.Scored 17/29, 12/25.
Total: 29/54.
Not that good, & not that bad.
Just disappointed with my summary.
Math lessons were a bore - so typical. We did graphs today.
I absolutely loathe graphs for their tediousness.
You know, you have to draw the table, plot the graph in such a way that it fills 2/3 of the graph paper, squint at the squares to see them, blahblahblah.
TROUBLESOME.
CME was alright actually.Talked about money.
My parents spend about $500 on me every month.
That is a lot huh?
Miss Lam also gave an example of how sec2 students going to restaurants like SAKAE SUSHI is so shocking. About $20 a meal. Ironic much?
Finally, Miss Lam kind of ended on time.
Skipped band & drills, waited for clique,
then
went to Marina Square's Sakae Sushi to celebrate Jasmine's birthday. :D
Zhaorong & ZiChao went to get Jasmine her present at Suntec's MiniToons.
Spent about 30min wandering around Marina Square,
trying to find Sakae Sushi.
& I thought I was familiar with the place already. -.-
Then, Jasmine(our highness for the day), Angel,
Andy, Zhaorong, ZiChao & I started the buffet.
Zhaorong learned a bit of etiquette as we went along,
while
Angel showed off her fluency in Japanese language;
(an obvious trait from the anime fanatic.)
Jasmine showed signs of 'unglamorousness',
while
ZiChao &
Andy just played along.

Zhaorong's cheeky face. ZiChao's too-obsessed-with-the-game look.

Happy double As. (Andy & Angel)

Our VERY HAPPY highness, Jasmine. (:

ZiChao with his toppled green tea on his then soiled pants.
Hilarious? Emphasized when he said it was cold. HAH.
Total bill of $105, with 10% service charge & GST.
What a rip off, especially when the service wasn't even good.
However, we got a $5 voucher for Marina Square for spending more than $100,
of which Jasmine kept for future use.
Hee!
Went to "Prints" to source for inspiration & materialsfor making Prefects' ROD's invitation tickets, souvenirs, etc.
Got a nice & shiny purple card to do a sample & try out first.
Also bought some other papers for Jasmine's birthday next week,
on the same day, 31JULY2009.
Awesome day!
Thank God.
(:

Hey Tuesday, Racial Harmony Day.I woke up with pain in my throat.
THROBBING PAIN.
So I took my temperature and was relieved that I'm healthy. (I THOUGHT.)
Went to 7eleven's for strepsils, which saved me for a bit.
Didn't have time (or mood) to make sandwich. :X
Recess;
Clique split into 2 groups.
I almost died from my cold.
I'm so disappointed.
He's not in the wrong, and is already sorry.
Why are you still bothering so much?
Why are you still bearing grudges?
I'm just disappointed.
Chinese lesson;
Racial Harmony day/种族和谐日.
We did a groupwork to discuss about being a good neighbour.
Kind of enjoyed it. (it's better than writing essay. :D)
2nd temperature-taking was 37.4degreescelcius.
It's horrifying to see the figures jump so fast on the thermometer you know?
I was trying to rest during math lessons.
But woke up when he was returning the emath test papers.
I scored 14/25.
Disappointed with myself.
I've to buck-up soon.
Just 3 months to endofyearexams.
sigh.
After school, had a mini-meeting with YCMC-ers.
Discussed a bit about the carnival.
See, Mandie?
It's not that easy to plan an event.
& I'm already dying from Prefects' ROD.
Meeting took up my lunchtime,
so I went straight for Thanksgiving rehearsal with Mdm Eng.
Mdm Eng said I underperformed, which I agreed also;
but what am I to do with the cold at hand?
I guess I spoke well, for an impromptu.
Not much problems with pronouncing the names too.
Experience from last year was useful.
Satisfied. (:
Finally ended, & went to canteen to have lunch, at 4pm.
Headed straight home after that and went to bed, early.
Woke up at 8pm just now.
Temperature went down to 36.6degreescelcius
Thank God. (:
Had pepsi with salt, like what Jasmine suggested.
Watched a bit of tv.
& here I am in front of the computer.
Just twoandahalfhours ago, I've decided to do geography.
& now, it's still in my face, blank & undone.
hah!
There's 2 periods of geography tomorrow.
dreaaaaaading it.
A busy week ahead.
& another busy one next week.
sigh.
I really need to rest before I collapse.
It's like, I sleep before 10pm, & I'm still tired. -.-
I've no time to do homework or anything.
& my spiritual walk is having a downturn.
help?
PS: I just realized I forgot about dinner.
PPS: Ignorance, new single by Paramore. Awesome. (:

young ,
http://ycmc.sg/YCMC today at SMU!
(Youth Change Makers Conference)
The Grand Opening started at around 8.10am.
It was awesome meeting the chairman, co-chairman & various people
from YCM.
They discussed with us about youth & change;
like on the stage, & it was opened to us for questions too.
The best part?
FREE T-SHIRT & GOODIE BAG. HAHAHAHAH.
(I sound so cheapo.)
Workshop 1.1: Yellow Ribbon ProjectWe learnt about the Yellow Ribbon Project,
why it was set-up, what it is for, etc.
The original inspiration was from the song,
"Tie a Yellow Ribbon around the Old Oak Tree"
It goes,
"I'm really still in prison
And my love, she holds the key,
A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free."
Wasn't that nice?
It's a really well-knowned organization to help ex-offenders
to get a brand new start.
We got a yellow ribbon!
& we pin it on our shirts.
SO NICE. (:
Workshop 1.1: Food From The HeartWe learned about food wastage here.
"JUNKED FOOD" each day accumulates to about 20,000kg of bread.
THAT IS A LOT!
Per day you know!
That's about 900 supermarket trolleys.
So FFTH collects these leftover bread & donates it to the needy.
They also do food drives in schools to collect non-perishable food.
These food are then packed properly & given to the needy.
Thank Lord for such a wonderful organization to help the poor people.
Volunteer Experience: Yellow Ribbon ProjectWe went to various places.
Serangoon;
Visited some houses that are rented by NewHope organization.
Then, they will let ex-offenders who are rejected by their family
to stay at these places.
There, a guy talked for 45min straight.
WOW. -.-
Finally, we went to the next place.
Which was at Geylang. -.-
It was a halfway home.
There are ex-offenders who serve their time.
They are left with a few more months to serve & this halfway home
is to help them get used to the society again,
so that they will be able to contribute to the society once they're done
doing their time.
We met ex-offenders!
& saw their bunks.
I think I'm going to help them by designing flyers for them!
Then distribute them to help publicize for a flag day on 28th September O9,
by them, to help the ex-offenders.
(:
Went for yf immediately after the conference.
I spent about 10min in EH & yf ended. -.-
Then went for dinner & discussion with Mr Chin, Bin Hua & Kenneth.
Indeed, our spiritual life with God should be our success indicator.
Even if we have the best cars in the world, or the best results,
or become very famous, without God, we will not be successful.
Therefore, we should all aim to put our spiritual life as top priority.
Other goals like studies, interests, etc, will go together with our No.1.
That is, studying to please God.
Pleasing God is really a test of our obedience & discipline.
Pleasing God should also come forth whole-heartedly.
So let us all please God together, whole-heartedly & obediently.
Then, we will all obtain our No.1 goal, which is a good spiritual life.
Amen?
(:

take flight ,
Take Flight; by Lau Adam
You ran so quickly, tearing painfully
while I watched in silent, unable to say anything.
Those words that you said, left me
frozen in time, frozen in sight of this blurry scene.
Just hours ago, we were floating in the sky
smudged in green - picturesque.
On this private hot air balloon, we
built a love so grotesque.
Now, the aurora painted the orangey morning sun,
but I feel not a bit happy for the dawn of day.
Because I know that there's no more fun.
Because of those words that you had to say.
"Goodbye, my love, it's time to take flight.
This love is over, don't need to fight.
Like what you said to me just hours ago,
baby, there's no eternity; so, take flight."
-
Hello!
Finally found time to blog.
It has been another crazy week for me;
Band practises, Prefect meetings, ROD planning, homework, tests.
PHEW.
Just today, the student leaders had their individual photo shoot.
We were supposed to take our photos at 215pm,
but the other classes were slow, & H5/2 was late.
Thus, we had to wait in the hall till about 315pm, then start shooting.
& when we went for Prefects' Meeting, Mrs Loh gave us attitude.
She scolded us for not having the initiative
to ask the photographer to let us go first.
Come on, they're hired to follow orders right?
Who are we to order them around?
& I seriously think they will not listen. -.-
Everyone(well, almost.) was happier when Mr Lee came in.
He kind of put Mrs Loh to silent mode.
(that's the power of his aura. HAHAHA)
I really think Mr Lee will do a good job if he takes over us.
He has a more innovative & fresh way of doing things,
& those styles are also from the tertiary education;
which means that it actually prepares us for the future.
There will always be change, my dear readers.
Most changes are inevitable, and can be good or bad,
depending on how you look at it.
But I believe in "Changes are always good".
Band;
Seems like ZhiHao is the next band major!
Why am I not surprised?
Everybody knows it before hand.
OBVIOUS. hahahaha.
& guess what, I'm most probably going to be stuck as librarian forever.
What a nightmare.
Librarian's job is so much harder, please!
PERFORMANCE IS ON NEXT SUNDAY. O:!
Chey, why make such a big fuss.
At least I can still play, despite missing a lot of practises. :X
ROD;
I really have to thank Sec1 Orientation 'O9 for giving me the experience.
Now I must say that I really can plan events quite well.
My proposal was okay after the first checking. (:
Just have to confirm a lot of things now.
4 more weeks!
Class;
Some problems lately made the class segregated.
Like, that's the worst that can ever happen to a F3/2 class right?
Whatever happened to 'United We Stand' ?
Actually, I've ever paid attention to Miss Lam.
What she says actually makes a lot of sense.
But sometimes,
I just don't like how she stereotypes us into very bad Christians;
though it is true that we are not perfect.
I like how she is God-saturated all the time and talking about Him.
I just want to say that,
those who still spite against her are really immature.
Maybe if you grow up a bit, you'll get to understand where she stands.
Let us put ourselves into others' shoes.
(Perhaps we might not even be able to take 1 of Miss Lam's typical school day.)
She really is patient, you know?
Youth Change Makers Conference is on tomorrow & Sunday!
Which means I'm gonna miss YF & Service. ):
I actually feel upset for being unable to attend them.
I didn't expect myself to be so attached to Emmaus, but now I am!
In the past, I was so depraved & was soaked in wickedness.
But now, I'm saved & saturated with goodness!
(all thanks to our dear Lord, Jesus!)
Let us Christians that have obtained salvation continue to be a light
and an instrument for God, shining in the darkest of dark
and the worst of the worst times.
Let our influence be so great that people around us will be enlightened.
Thank you, God. (:Labels: how could the silence be so loud?

hungover ,
Say hello to my
200th post! (:
Look at my 1st post and my 100+ post.
So much difference, and so much more interesting to read.
I've grown as a writer & blogger,
Courtesy of myself.
AHAHAHH.
Ahh, band resumed again.
Super boring today.
No sectionals allowed since Oral was going on.
Mr Samuel had to teach the sections during full band, which means...
the other sections will feel ultimately boooooooooored.
Learnt a new song, "March Together"
Sec1s can't really play it yet, but I must say it's quite easy.
Even our sight-reading ain't bad.
It's a busy week, and I'm only half way through.
Let's see...
Monday: Youth day, went out with brothers & sisters from church.
Tuesday: School resumed, sec3ROD item meeting. (took the whole afternoon.)
Wednesday: Band.Thursday: Band stock-taking, Councillor meeting with Mr James Lee,
ROD item meeting.
Friday: Band.
Saturday: Band. Meet Reggie. YF.
Sunday: Tuition. Church.BAND ON SATURDAY?!
Argh!
So finally we're going all out to practise for the upcoming performances...
- 28th July
- 85th Thanksgiving
- National Day
SHEESH.
& I thought I could sleep more on saturday.
-sidenote-
I've not been getting enough sleep, so don't mind me if I'm not Adam.
It's called the "you-will-go-crazy-when-you're-tired" illness.
& I just caught it from Phoebe & Jeremy.
THANKS. :X

10YEARSERIES are outthanks to whining parents who say things like..
"No 10year series?! OHEMGEEEE. MY CHILD'S GONNA FAIL THE O LEVELS. HELP HIM. WE NEED THE 10YEAR SERIES!!!!!!!1!!!!!1one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OneNEEEONE!!"
em.. yeah...
Wellll.
I think that maybe it's a good idea that the 10YS stop publishing.
You see, Singaporeans are getting too dependent on the 10YS.
& look, what's the real motive of getting the 10YS?
To study past year questions and predict what's gonna come out for O's.
You call that smart studying, but isn't that making our students lazy?
In the first place, if we did study & understood fully everything
that we need to know to score and do well for the O's,
then we won't even need the 10YS to help us 'cheat'.
We should use the 10YS solely for practise and not to memorize it,
and secretly think that that will smoke us through the O's.
Anyways, after saying so much, who cares?
We'll still continue to rely on the 10YS, hoooooraaaaaaay. :D
ROD!I've to update on this during Prefects' meeting next week already.
& I haven't done a single thing.
But I must say, it's reaaal exciting! (Even our item is.)
Let's do some sneak-peek into the Prefects' ROD 2OO9...
- DIFFERENT, UNIQUE, SPECIAL, EXTRAORDINARY. (:
- Not the typical boring 'talk-show'?
- Better seating arrangement? Restaurant-like setting?
- Even more awesome decoration?
- Better items?
okaaaaaaay... maybe it's not that exciting to look forward to.
Don't want to bring your hopes up too high, yeah?
Just keep a lookout for it.
(:

double meaning ,
Happy Youth Day!
Went out with brothers & sisters from church today,
YiHan, Jeremy, Kenneth, MeiYin, Olivia & MeiYee.
Met at City Hall, then had MOSburger for lunch.
YiHan, Jeremy & I didn't eat though.
Then, we went to shop around a bit.
(& there's this awesome white Levi's watch I saw, which Nat has.)
Went to Bras Basah for guitar-shopping.
I think I'm gonna save up for a new guitar.
New acoustic guitar.
But meanwhile, I have to use the very gross classical guitar. -.-
(PSST, I seriously don't like Eguitar or bass.)
Saw pretty awesome 'chord dictionaries' for guitar & keyboard.
Didn't buy though, 'cause YiHan is already my chord dictionary.
By then, we WeiChuan came, & we went for our lunch. (3pm+)
Kenneth got awesome landscape architecture books, & a belt.
But I still didn't manage to find that coin pouch. (Irritating YiHan!)
Someone tell me where I can find some. (:
I was super tired by the time I came home at around 6,
so I took a nap and woke up at 8.
& seems like that's Youth Day for me.
Ugh, school tomorrow -.-
I feel that I'm getting way too much into church,
and am starting to neglect my friends.
I'm so sorry.
But once you've seen our church, you'll understand why.
The joy & inner peace is just too awesome to not want.
(:

pissed ,
Hey.
Guess what.
My grandmother just threw away all my revision papers,
all my notes,
all my exam papers,
almost all of my subject files,
and all of those notes that the teachers have given,
for me to prepare for the exams to come.
all of them.
not a single sheet left.
THANKS HUH. wth.Labels: i might just kill myself.

who am i (?) ,
I am a flower quickly fading,Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord you catch me when I'm falling.
You told me who I am,I am yours.School has reopened!
& nobody seems excited about it.
(not even the teachers!)
This year's june holidays seemed so short.
Somehow, as I become older, my time flies even faster.
Like whoa, in a blink of an eye, my holidays are over. (literally)
Someone once told me, "Time flies when you're happy."
& my experiences have told me that that's quite true.
It seems all too fast.
It's like, I haven't done anything much in the holidays.
But I am happy, because God is with me. (:
So, the first day of school in term3.
Hmm, so-so, kind of boring.
Nice to see everyone again, but not nice to see the effect of H1N1.
Not the physical effect after being infected with the virus,
but the mental & psychological effect.
The discipline teachers were so concerned about the whole thing,
(a little over-concern, though?)
but everyone else seemed so nonchalent & just couldn't care less.
There was this H1N1 briefing that strucked me.
I mean, what is with the "cute" cartoon characters on the 'brochures'?
Does the government think that it really appeals to us?
We're in the secondary, for goodness' sakes.
It would be logical for the primary, but us? Come on.
& what is with the ppt slides and everything -
they're totally making it into a lesson.
Think about it, how many students were actually listening
& memorizing the things to do during this pandemic?
Sheeeeeeeeesh.
Anyways.
The teachers did not stop or give us a first week of 'adapting',
but just bombarded us with lessons.
whoa.
And soon enough, I experienced the ...
laziness & mundane & boring lessons being taught today.
I'm sorry to say that I slept during Math & Physics lessons,
but that's just typical. (:
Nonetheless, it's still fun studying with my classmates,
who never fail to 'liven' things up. :D
Mr James Lee also came in to our class doing SS's free period today.
(Pretty random, I thought.)
He shared about his JC life & a bit on career guidance.
I must say that I really liked listening to him talk.
He's just hilarious.
& I think that his lessons must be pretty entertaining too.
Sidetrack:
Some very shameless promotion here.
I'm gonna do the "Speak Good English" thing with Germin next tuesday.
Support us. :X
Oops, let's continue.
Oh ya, there's this very not-so-good arrangement for recess.
We have our own table as a class,
we have to sit as a class,
we have to eat as a class,
we have to have recess as a class.
Why, it's a deja vu of Sec3 Camp!
It's kind of ohkay, I think,
but really, do you teachers think this would stop the virus from spreading?
I mean, come on, we still hang out with people from other classes after school.
We still have to come in contact with people when buying food.
See what I mean?
Anyway, this idea is actually a pupil suggestion -
to make sure students return their utensils.
Like any other idea, there are pros and cons.
GET ON WITH IT, PEOPLE. -.-
(& with "IT", I simply meant sitting together. The boys have no H1N1 okay. -_-
Whatever happened to class spirit.)
Another change.
Assembly's in classrooms, yay.
(No yay for register & relief duty prefects,
because they have to climb the stairs. lots of times.)
by the way,
HAPPYBIRTHDAY JOY. - 28O694Labels: i am a flower quickly fading; here today and gone tomorrow.
